Mary O’Keefe (nee Kelly), beloved and devoted mother, and grandmother passed away peacefully at the age of 94 on August 24, 2024. She is preceded in death by her husband, John T. O’Keefe and son, John T. O’Keefe, Jr. Mary is survived by her children, Joanne Roundy (Vaughn), Richard O’Keefe, Carol O’Keefe, Marilyn Weimer (Ron), and Patty O’Keefe; and grandchildren, Eric, Kelly, and Sean Weimer.
She was blessed to have a wonderful 64 year marriage to her beloved high school sweetheart, Jack, with whom she loved dancing and traveling. Mary grew up in the Germantown section of Philadelphia and had four brothers she adored. All of whom served in WWII (Bill, Jack, Walt, and George) in addition to her beloved sister Anita, and baby Maude who passed as an infant.
Her children and grandchildren were a source of so much joy and pride in her life. Mary was a beacon of light wherever she went. She was known for never aging and always lit up a room with her beautiful smile.
In addition to her role as a loving mother, Mary dedicated her time as a volunteer at Nazareth Hospital in Philadelphia, where her selfless service was deeply appreciated by the staff. Mary’s classmates from Little Flower High School cherished her friendship, and the bonds they shared remained strong throughout the years.
Mary’s Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, August 28, 2024 at 11am at St. Ephrem’s Catholic Church 5400 Hulmeville Rd, Bensalem, PA 19020. Interment Resurrection Cemetery Bensalem, PA. Memorial Contributions, at the request of the family may be made to Shriner’s Children’s Hospital https://www.shrinerschildrens.org/en/locations/philadelphia/about-us/ways-to-give in Mary’s honor.
Mary will be remembered for her dedication to her family and community, her strength and resilience, and her ability to bring warmth and joy to those around her. She leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue to inspire and comfort her family and friends. Rest in peace, Mary. You will be deeply missed and forever loved.
