He attended Brick High School and remained a life long Brick football fan.  Pat enlisted in the Navy and served as a medic in the Vietnam War.  After his service he graduated from Temple University.  He married the love of his life, Marilyn on July 4, 1970 – so there would be fireworks every year for their anniversary.  Pat worked for many years as a teacher and administrator in the Philadelphia School District, he retired from William Penn High School in North Philadelphia.

Pat enjoyed the beach, fishing, watching movies, and listening to music, especially Doo-wop.  He was an avid reader and trivia fan, who played both online and at the kitchen table during nightly Jeopardy.

He was a coffee fanatic and could be found at Starbucks sometimes more than once a day, chatting with everyone.

As a Philadelphia sports fan, he was excited to watch Eagles win the Super Bowl with his grandsons and enjoyed attending Phillies games with his brothers.  Above all Pat’s favorite thing to do was play with his grandchildren.

Along with his parents Pat was predeceased by his brother Sean McGorty.  Pat will be deeply and truly missed by his wife of almost 55 years Marilyn (nee McKeown) McGorty.  Also by his beloved children Amanda (Shaun) McGorty, Nicole (Christina)McGorty, and Mary (Jane) Dabroski and cherished grandchildren Patrick “PJ”, Liam, Maya and Logan.  He will also be deeply missed by his siblings Kevin, Terry, Eileen and Timothy.

Relatives and friends are invited to Pat’s memorial service on Saturday, March 15, 2025 at Faust Funeral Home Inc. 902 Bellevue Ave. Hulmeville, PA 19047.  Where friends will be received from 10am until 12pm with a service to follow at 12pm.  Interment Resurrection Cemetery Bensalem, PA.
