Eleanor Cherry Kunz, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, September 17, 2024. She was 99 years old. Born in Bristol, PA to the late Joseph and Annie (nee Carson) Cherry, Eleanor was a first generation American.  Eleanor spent her childhood years in Philadelphia where she attended Hopkinson Elementary School and Frankford High School.  She worked as a secretary throughout the years at schools and businesses before retiring in 1993 from Pennsbury Manor.   After marrying the love of her life in 1949, she fully embraced her role as a minister’s wife, particularly focusing her energies on youth ministry and children’s choirs.  Together they served churches in many locations, enjoying a very rich life together full of adventures.  After retirement, the pair enjoyed traveling, with Eleanor’s favorite destination being Ireland.  As a widow, Eleanor continued to travel with family as well as a close group of friends.  Throughout her life, she was known for her “Irish” wit, storytelling, beautiful singing voice, and her excellent cooking.  She loved to entertain family and friends, welcoming an astounding number of people into her home, and taking special pride in a beautifully set table with Irish linens and fine china. She also loved reading, embroidery, quilting, and the many animals that were part of the family over the years.
Along with her parents Eleanor was predeceased by her beloved husband of 58 years, Rev. W. Richard Kunz. Eleanor will be deeply missed by her children Richard A. Kunz (Barbra McCune), Joanne I. Kunz, and Mary Ellyn Kunz.  She also leaves her cherished grandchildren John Kunz (Laura McWethy), Juliana Kunz, Elena Kunz, Anna (Gregory) Mannering, and her great-grandchildren Hendrick and Beckett Mannering.
