John Edward Atkinson, Sr. “Ed” passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at the Birches of Newtown on September 28, 2018, he was 88.

Before his retirement Ed was a sub station operator for Philadelphia Electric Company. Ed was a member of the American Legion, Chalfont Sporting Association, and the Sons of Union Veterans. He was also a devout member of Neshaminy United Methodist Church in Hulmeville and Trevose United Methodist Church in Trevose.

One of his greatest joys in life was spending time with his children and especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Some of Ed’s other joys were puzzles, hunting, watching Nascar races, and spending time with his brother Bud.

Ed was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 61 years Margaret V. Atkinson (nee Lamb), his brothers Elmer “Bud” Atkinson, Frank Atkinson, and sister Clair Monahan. He will be sadly missed by his children Margaret Louise Krut of Bensalem, PA. and John E. Atkinson, Jr. (Barbara) of Unionville, PA, along with his 3 grandchildren Michelle Brenner, Jennifer Clancy, James Krut and 3 great-grandchildren Wesley, John, and Hudson.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral 11:15am Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at the Faust Funeral Home Inc. 902 Bellevue Ave. Hulmeville, PA 19047. Where friends will be received from 10am until service time at 11:15am.

Interment will take place at 9:30am Thursday, October 4, 2018 at Washington’s Crossing National Cemetery. 830 Highland Road Newtown, PA 18940
