Burial Date May 19, 2017

Joseph M. Battaglia, known to all who loved him as “Joe,” passed away on Tuesday, May 9, 2017. After a courageous battle with cancer, Joe passed peacefully, surrounded by his loving family at his home in Langhorne Manor, PA.

He lived right up until he died, and his last days were full of love, laughter, music, and of course, good food! Joe received his Bachelor’s degree in engineering from Cornell University on a full academic scholarship. He also served in the Navy during the Vietnam era as a United States Naval Reserve Ensign.

He has been a member of Morrisville Presbyterian Church since 1990, and has enjoyed being a dutiful volunteer for their charitable Food Service program. Joe found much fulfillment from serving others, whether members of his family, church, or community. As a lover of music, Joe was a longtime member of the Pennsbury Community Chorus. His love for music led to his joy of acting, and he was a favorite “regular” in the productions put on by the Newtown Presbyterian Players, in addition to set designer and builder.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Concetta “Tina” Battaglia (nee Gengaro) and Joseph Battaglia, as well as his brother Alfred J. Battaglia. Joe will be dearly missed by his wonderful wife of 16 years, Janine Battaglia (nee LeGrande), as well as his children: Elizabeth Battaglia of Lambertville, NJ, Denise DiBerardino (Sandy) of Philadelphia, PA, Jennifer Sanceciz (Ronald) of Upper Moreland, PA, and Michael Hess (Jackie) of Southhampton, PA. He is also survived by three adoring grandchildren: Emily, Brianna, and Tyler, as well as his brother Sam Battaglia (Kathie) of his hometown, Nutley, NJ, sister-in-law Terry Battaglia of Franklin Lakes, NJ, Aunt Antoinette Nigro, Uncle Frank Gengaro (Connie), Uncle Mike Luongo (Godfather), and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Relatives and friends are invited to his memorial service Friday, May 19, 2017 at Morrisville Presbyterian Church. Calling hour from 10:00am – 11:00am. Service at 11:00am. As a celebration of his life, guests will be welcome to share warm memories of Joe. He wanted lots of funny stories, and fond memories of “Joe-isms.” Luncheon will follow the service in the Church Fellowship Hall. 771 North Pennsylvania Avenue | Morrisville, PA 19067.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the ASPCA of Lahaska, or the parent organization at www.ASPCA.org/donate
